NSW Health is testing a new electronic health record called Healthelink in parts of the state. Healthelink brings together summaries of health information for individuals from different doctors, hospitals and health clinics and puts them into one secure computer record.
To be eligible to join the pilot group:
You must be aged 0-15 years or 65 years or over living in one of the following postcodes:
Maitland: 2320, 2321, 2322, 2323, 2324.
Greater Western Sydney: 2142, 2145, 2146, 2147, 2148, 2150, 2153, 2747, 2750 & 2770.
If you meet the eligibility criteria above you will be automatically enrolled when you attend a participating facility. Every individual's electronic health record is empty when they are first enrolled. Information is added to it over time, but no historical data is loaded except for community healthcare where related episodes to current care are also included.
As this is a pilot, not all facilities are taking part. The system will progressively expand within the pilot areas to include more healthcare facilities and doctors. You can review the participating facilities
You don't have to take part in the Healthelink pilot if you don't want to. You may opt-out at any time - the easiest way to do this is by contacting us.
Alternatively, should you wish, you may choose the organisations/facilities that may have access to your record. Please contact the Healthelink help desk if you would like to arrange this.
If you wish to participate you don't need to do anything.
If you're participating in the pilot you can additionally register for secure online access and add information to your Healthelink record. Refer to the How to view your Electronic Health Record page.
